Computex 2008, which is a trade-show of computer manufacturers and computer enthusiasts in Taiwan, had on display an Eee PC 901. Actually the 901 has been released for sale in Taiwan as well. The specifications on it are: Intel Atom 1.6GHz, 12GB flash storage, 1GB DDR RAM, Win XP, WiFi, etc. It has been reported that the finishing and the overall build quality of the 901 is better than the original Eee PC.

Apparently the display is the same as the old one. Personally, I liked the old display as it did its job fine, so that is good. An improvement that touch-typists will appreciate is that the keyboard has been improved to make it easier to type. Of course, it is not going to be as easy as a normal, full keyboard, but your speed will definitely increase over the old one (unless you have impossibly skinny fingers and flexible fingers). Overall, this is a drastic and much wanted improvement, if the Eee PC wasn't selling yet, it is for sure going to sell like hot cakes now.

Asus Eee Stick 06/08/2008

There are rumors that Asus is going to be spinning off the Eee brand with its own identity (they probably arise from the fact that the new Eee PCs don't have the Asus logo on them). They are expanding the Eee brand to include a desktop, a TV, and of they already have the ubiquitous Eee PC notebook. Another new product that Asus is releasing under the Eee brand is the Eee Stick.

The Eee Stick is a wireless remote of sorts, and it resembles the Nintendo Wii nunchuck. The Eee Stick is intended to be used in presentations and the like, but it can also be used for gaming (which is where Asus may be planning on heading next). Overall, the Eee Stick is a useful little gadget that may start coming free with the other products in the Eee line, but we will have to wait and see what happens..

If you haven't heard about, its because until now it was just a rumor. Asus is releasing a Bamboo-clad laptop, called the EcoBook which will be released in June. There will be two models, an 11 inch version called the S6 and a 12 inch version called the U6. The specs on it so far are just pure speculation, and though this is not part of the Eee PC brand, or in terms of price close to the range, many Eee PC users may be interested in other Asus products after experiencing the quality of the Eee PC.

Some of use, computer enthusiasts have been using Asus motherboards for a long while. Personally, they are my favorite motherboard manufacturer. Now, with the Eee PC and other products, they may just become my favorite laptop manufacturer as well. By the way, rumors have it on the EcoBook Asus will make the inner plastic parts upgradable so that you can upgrade the hardware as new hardware comes out. The price range of the laptop looks to be around 900 British Pounds.

Some Eee PC 900 owners in UK have probably noticed that their laptop's battery doesn't quite provide as much power as it used to: struggling to last for more than 90 minutes. Asus has announced a scheme which will let Eee 900 owners pick up a beefier battery for a small fee. With this upgrade the British Eee PC 900's will be on the same level as the American Eee PC 900's.

The Eee PC 900 in America ships with a 5800 mAh battery, whereas the British one ships with a 4440 mAh version battery. I think, though they should have gone with giving it away free, rather than charge for it, it is still a sign that they are listening to their customers and willing to go to certain lengths to keep them happy.
