The new Eee PC is really starting to catch on. People who are not geeks are starting to talk about it, which means its really starting to hit mass appeal. Of course, this is great news for Asus because this means that it will become an even greater hit. With the new Eee PC running Windows the potential number of users goes up drastically.

Anyway, another improvement that is rumored to hit stateside, and has already been released in Japan is colors. It seems like everything nowadays is colored, starting from iMacs, onto iPods and pretty much everything in the consumer electronics world. The new colors are blue, green, and pink. Can't wait to see them on this side of the Pacific.

If you are in Canada, and are looking to open up an account, open it with Royal Bank of Canada because, assuming you meet all their requirements, you will get a free Eee PC with your new account. The Eee PC you will get will be the 2G Surf. Though not the best Eee PC, its free so it doesn't look to bad of a deal.

If you are seriously looking into this deal you will want to look at all the various details before you go ahead with it. However, this brings to light the idea that the Eee PC is truly starting to become a real mainstream product that is not just for the geeky early adopters anymore. It has been a surprisingly fast journey for the Eee PC. Of course, with the new Windows version it will become even more mainstream.

There are rumors already circulating about the next generation of Eee PCs. The second generation is due to be released on May 12th in America. The second generation will have an 8.9-inch screen and come in both Linux and Windows versions. The generation after that is what the rumors are about.

There are two big rumors. One is that the next generation will come to be offered in 10 inch model. Currently the Eee PC is in a 7 inch configuration. This will mean that the Eee PC will start competing against some of the ultraportable high end notebooks by Sony, Dell, and Lenovo. The second rumor is that by June the Eee PC will be out with the Intel Atom CPU at its core. This will mean better battery life and more power. Can't wait to see if these rumors come to be true...

Asus has announced the 8.9 inch next generation Eee PC. It is going to ship on May 12th. However, if you really cannot wait that long to get your hands on one, there is always eBay. Yes, that is right, the Eee PC 900 is now available on eBay and if you must have it right now you can order it. Most of the sellers are based on Hong Kong or Taiwan and they ship internationally.

The price that you will have to pay will be somewhere in the range of $600 to $700 plus shipping. This is not that much higher than the expected retail price of the Eee PC 900 when it is released officially in America for $549. If you are really keen about picking one up head over to eBay to get one. Make sure you check the merchant history to make sure you are buying from a legitamite seller.

More final details have emerged. For one the RAM size has ben confirmed as being 1GB. This is an upgrade from the previous 512MB. The overall weight is less than 1KG still. The CPU is not an ATOM, as there was much speculation about. The battery life is listed at 2.5 hours, however preliminary tests show it lasting about 2 hour. But it has a brightness display that can be reduced so that you can increase the duration before you have to plug back in.

There will be 3 USB ports and support up to wireless-G WiFi. There is also a SD/MMC slot in case you want to transfer photos or add more harddrive space. The UK release data is that it will cost 329 Pounds. Also, for those of you who wanted to purchase the previous generation Eee PC for its price point, will be able to purchase the EeePC 4G Win, which will come with Windows, have a 7-inch screen and 4GB SSD harddrive.

We have gotten the final details for the Asus Eee PC 900. It will be released May 12th and it will cost $549. It will have the previously touted, 8.9-inch LCD display with 1024x600 resolution. It will also have a 1.3 megapixel camera integrated right above the screen. There will be two options of configuration. One will have a 12GB SSD with Windows OS and the other will have a 20GB SSD with Linux.

Another huge thing is that you will also get FingerGlide. FingerGlide is Asus' touchpad technology that does multitouch. If you have used a newer Apple MacBook then you have seen this in action. For example, when viewing a document, if you move from top to bottom on the touch pad with two finger it will scroll the document down. There are many other uses for multitouch as well, like convienent right clicking, zooming with photos, and using browser shortcuts.

There are rumors aswirl that are whispering that the Eee PC 900 will be released in May instead of June. This is great news for subnotebook enthusiasts because with an early release, before the summer, many people will be able to pick them up for back to school shopping. Everyone is starting to get into the subnotebook market so it may be a great thing for Asus to do an early release, the last release was almost half a year ago, its a good idea to get another incarnation out.

However, everything is not that rosy. If Asus is to release the Eee PC 900 by May instead of June they won't be able to add Atom from Intel. The Atom line of mobile processors are creates especially for small portable computers like the Eee PC. There are two different processors, codenamed Silverthorne and Diamondville. Intel, along with Asus and many other companies are betting that the low cost PC market is going to grow substantially over the next couple of years.

Though the screen is rather small, a lot of people have felt that a TV tuner would be the perfect addition to the already great Asus Eee PC. Well, the guys at Asus have been hard at work and they have updated the Linux drivers for the My Cinema U3100 Mini DVB-T and DMB-TH products. Both of these are USB TV tuners. All you have to do is plug them in and you can watch your shows on the Eee PC.

Both of these TV tuners are for basic usage, there is no HDTV or recording capabilities. I think this is just the begining, with more and more Eee PCs being sold every day, it's a matter of time before everyone gets on the bandwagon and starts to release products with Eee PC support. Since the Eee PC will soon come with Windows XP it will be able to work with the already tremendous existing products for Windows.

Allegedly the soon to be released Asus Eee PC 900 will be fitted with a touch screen and built in GPS according to Digitimes. This seems to be quite a tall order because last time I checked the Eee PC is an ultra portable low cost PC, not a Sony or something. Asus Germany has made is clear that the Eee PC 900 will be delivered exactly as it was at CeBIT 2008 with no new additions planned.

The real features of the Eee PC 900 are going to be an 8.9 inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600. Another rumor, which carries more weight than the previous one, states that there will be two models of the Eee PC 900, one with a 12GB SSD which will run Windows XP and another one with a 20GB SSD which will run Linux. The RAM will be 1GB for both models.

Well it seems the large and unstoppable group on the Internet that kept on petitioning and lobbying Microsoft to not stop selling Windows XP this summer has finally gotten their wish. There have been demonstrations and massive petitions that hundreds of thousands have signed online asking Microsoft to keep on selling Windows XP.

It seems that the Ultra low costs PC (ULCPCs) have saved the day. This new class was definined by the Asus Eee PC when it was first released. Microsoft has sited this new class of ultra mobile PCs as the reason to extend the life-span of Win XP to 2010. Of course, this is a huge win for Windows XP fans as well as Asus Eee PC fans.
