Ever since Asus launched the Eee PC, its competitors have been scrambling to get something out to compete with it. Since Asus is traditionally a motherboard manufacturer, it is now in the ultra-portable sub-$1,000 market. Consequently, its competitors include motherboard firms, computer makers, and other firms who are just jumping in for their share.

The new competitors include: Elonex One (GeCube Genie), Packard Bell EasyNote XS, MSI Wind, Dell Vostro, and the OLPC XO-1. They are various levels above and below the Eee PC in terms of performance and price. Overall, I don't see any of them unseating the Eee PC anytime soon because of Asus first mover advantage and Asus-quality which will keep all of them behind the Eee PC.
