Asus has edged into the lower end of the ultraportable notebook market. They came in from left field with their original Eee PC, with the form factor, price, and stability of Linux they took the market by storm. Now they are releasing their new Eee PC and it will now become a direct competitor in the general notebook market.

Asus has been making WhiteBooks for awhile now, however the Eee PC was its first notebook intended for the mainstream market. The WhiteBook is a barebones laptop that does not come with a CPU, hard drive, optical drive, or RAM. Those components are purchsed and put in by the user. Obviously it was only meant for the computer enthusiasts who are interested in such things. But the Eee PC is here to stay and is really taking the market by storm.
