A man has welded 8 devices into his little Asustek Eee. I have to say, that is some soldering capabilities, to be able to get in and even do some basic soldering takes a lot of practice and skill, but this man is literally a machine stamping it out. The devices that he has put into his Eee laptop are: a USB hub, a GPS receiver with its antenna, a Bluetooth module, a second SDHC card slot, a Flash drive, a power switch, an FM transmitter and a modem.
He also replaced the WiFi. On the whole, I'd say that Asus made a great laptop that anyone can use and can be used for anything. However, with such hardware hackers around it may make more sense to start a company that takes Eee PCs and mods them and resells them. I'm sure he has already gotten some requests.

There are rumors in the air that the Asus Eee PC will be available in 8inch, 9inch, and 10inch screens later this year. Only one of them, the 9inch, will also have touchscreen capabilities. On the whole, this is a great development, for many people the Eee PC with touch screen will be a great addon. There are countless reasons why anyone buys a product. But the Asustek Eee is not just any product, it is a revolutionary product that will change the way we see laptops. The Asus Eee laptop is most obviously revolutionary in its price point. starting at $400, the Asustek Eee PC is one of the cheapest ultraportable on the market. Of course, there are going to be copycats that the Asus Eee PC will have to watch out for. The Asus Eee PC 8G is the higher end model of Asus' Eee PCs. The Eee 8G has an 8 gigabyte Solid State Disk (SSD) hard drive which means that it is better protected against shocks and hits than most other laptops. The Asus Eee 8G can be used as a main computer for someone who is new to computers or who is not a power user. The Eee PC 8Gb can also be used as a secondary computer for those of us whose lives revolve around computers and prefer to take an Eee laptop instead of lugging our normal one to the coffee shop for some browsing. The Eee PC 701 is the Eee PC 4G version. This means that it comes with a 4 gigabyte solid state disk (SSD) hard drive. An SSD hard drive is the newest technology in hard drives and will result in fewer hard drive failures and problems due to rough treatment of the notebook. Don't let the mild and unassuming pearly white exterior of the Asus Eee PC 4G fool you, it is a very capable machine squeezed into a tight package at an amazing price. |
