Asus has predicted that its Windows based Eee PC will outsell its Linux based Eee PC. Specifically, Asus is predicting that the Windows version will take more than 60% of the market share. Two versions of Windows based Eee PCs will be sold, both of which will have beefier specs than the Linux based one. Since the hardware will be different its hard to say that people will want the Windows one because its Windows and not due to the better hardware.
Personally, I think the Eee PC running Linux was fine for its purposes. But it seems that Asus is looking to increase the hardware on the Eee PC so that soon they will be in the regular ultra-portable laptop market, for which they will have to embrace Windows. Though they should probably offer all their hardware models with the option of Windows and Linux.
